We’re shortlisted in the National Recycling Awards
In collaboration with Essex County Council, we have been shortlisted in the Partnership Excellence – Public/Private sector category.
This is all about championing sustainable waste management, pioneering waste reduction, promoting recycling and most importantly, sharing inventing ways of rethinking waste.
Our journey began in April 2022, when we joined forces with Essex County Council to uplift materials from ECC’s Household Recycling Centres. The goal was to minimise landfill contributions and push the boundaries on the waste hierarchy. Through our Contract Improvement Plan, and by diving deep into the network of HWRCs, we sought out creative innovations.
Here’s a result we’re particularly proud of: with our focused efforts and collaborations with local reuser contractors, we achieved a 167% increase in reuse!
But it’s also about community impact. Partnering with the Lighthouse Furniture Project, we’ve diverted 270+ fridge freezers and large appliances from recycling to reuse in just five months. Once renovated, these are made available at discounted prices to Essex residents living in the more deprived areas who benefit from more affordable white goods.

We’re happy to announce that Plan B has been awarded the International Green Apple Environment Award. Amongst 500+ quality nominations, our commitment to a sustainable and greener future stood out.
On November 20, we’ll be receiving our trophy and certificate at the Houses of Parliament in London.

We’re incredibly honoured to be invited as Green World Ambassadors, and our award-winning insights will be featured in The Green Book. Through this, we aim to inspire and guide businesses globally on the path to environmental improvement and achievement.
Next on our journey? Representing our nation in the Green World Environment Awards which gets hosted in a unique country each year.
