We run waste collections and the Household Waste Recycling Centres in Bridgend on behalf of Bridgend County Borough Council. As part of our commitment to support the residents of the communities where we work, we set up the Bridgend Community Fund, and we’re delighted to confirm that applications for 2026/27 funding are now open.

What is the Bridgend Community Fund?

The fund makes £10,000 available each year to local initiatives, awarded in two rounds of £5,000. Round one closes on 31 December 2026, and applicants will hear the outcome within four weeks of the closing date.

Who can apply?

We’d love to hear from community groups, charities and social enterprises based in Bridgend County Borough. Organisations that received funding in the March 2026 round can apply again from March 2027.

What are we looking for?

Projects must show how they support at least one of our eight funding themes:

  • Enabling participation in physical activity
  • Enabling participation in the arts
  • Preventing or reducing the impact of poverty
  • Supporting marginalised groups and tackling inequality
  • Improving biodiversity and responding to the climate emergency
  • Supporting waste prevention, re-use and recycling
  • Improving green spaces and increasing access to the outdoors
  • Providing support to improve mental health

Full details are in the guidance notes.

Who benefited last year?

Seeing the difference our first awards made last year has been fantastic.

  • Bridgend Athletic RFC switched its Ewenny Road clubhouse to LED lighting to cut energy use and carbon emissions.
  • Daring to Dream is funding ‘Space to Sing’, live music for elderly care and dementia patients, their families and staff at the Princess of Wales Hospital.
  • Raw Performance CIC bought a wider range of equipment so its free, mixed-ability fitness classes stay accessible and varied.
  • The Bridge Mentoring Plus Scheme received £1,000 to reduce the impact of food and financial insecurity.
  • Penyfai Village Community Association is using its grant for a community planting scheme that will improve biodiversity and bring residents together.
