THE CHALLENGE

Cheshire West Recycling (CWR) are due to commence Waste and Recycling collections on 30th March 2020. As part of the exit negotiations with the current service provider, CWR has acquired all the owned assets.

The current service provider is currently supplementing the existing Fleet with the hire of six vehicles. It is crucial to retain or replace these six vehicles to ensure service delivery and continuity. CWR require advice on the option available to them.

THE SOLUTION

Plan B have prepared an early stage options appraisal as an indication of the options available to enable the Board to be able to understand the direction of travel.

Plan B analysed five viable options, presenting the costs of each option and the pros and cons. Plan B then recommended the best overall option available to the CWR.

THE OUTCOME

CWR elected to take Plan B’s advice and progressed with purchasing the current hire vehicles. The negotiations with Dumfries and Galloway Council also bought to light other options available to CWR which would save them money, for example, the purchasing of additional recycling boxes which are surplus to D&G’s requirements.
